Thanks for GiveCampUK 2011
A quick note from me to reiterate a few points I made yesterday during the closing speech. I put the success of GiveCampUK 2011 to the following:
1. I have to thank all our sponsors – their financial and generous donations of swag were great for all our attendees that stayed through to the event. Without the sponsors and contributors GiveCampUK 2011 would not have happened!
2. A huge thanks to the charities for submitting their applications. Again it is important to point out that without charities, we would not have been able to hold GiveCampUK.
3. So much of my thanks will go to the folks at UCL Engineering who backed us. This includes Dr. Sue Black, Kate Oliver, Alastair Moore and so many more there for their generous donation of their venue and time.
4. The volunteers, you! You guys worked your asses off during the 40 hours or so of coding. To see the results made me feel truly humble. One thing that will stick in my head is hearing a comment “You people have literally changed people’s lives”. Tears almost broke out on me at that point! Thank you all so much for persevering the troubles we had over the weekend!
5. The team leads. Without the hard work you guys put in the projects wouldn’t have survived. I will not forget the buzz in that room during the Friday and Saturday nights. ![]()
6. The amazing help at hand – Dave Sussman, Andy Westgarth, Phil Winstanley and Kendall Miller. These guys have been organising UK events for a number of years and I never understood the can-do attitude at those events until this weekend just past! Kendall has attended GiveCamps in the USA and without him I think issues would have occurred!
7. Rachel Hawley. I have always been told how awesome Rachel is but during this event and the run up to it, I was able to witness that myself. There would be no idea of GiveCamp in the UK without the talks that Rachel (and Ben Hall) in late 2010. I am forever in her debt!
I really do hope to make sure there is a 2012 event! I have to say the 2011 event will stay special for me as the inaugural GiveCampUK. Going to work tomorrow (Monday) will be tough!

Your post also helped me know to use the term "global number" in my search of MadCap's help, which got me to more information, including the proper auto-number formats to use with global numbers.
